2017 Marigold Festival Grand Marshal

The Pekin Marigold Festival Committee is happy to announce Brett Bode as the 2017 Pekin Marigold Festival Grand Marshal.  The nomination submitted by his fellow Kiwanians stated that he is “the definition of selflessness” and closed with the statement that “Brett has a heart full of service and a soul for helping those in need.”

Brett has a lengthy volunteer history, working with the Peoria Prison Cursillo Ministry; the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and headed their Crisis Ministry; the Pekin Consortium for Healthcare; the Pekin Outreach Initiative; and the Jubilee Housing Ministry which provides and sets up housing for the underprivileged.

In fact, just three weeks after September 11th, Brett deployed to New York as a volunteer. He has made many disaster trips to aid the local Peoria Red Cross chapter helping Tornado, hurricane, and flood victims throughout the U.S.

Brett and his wife, Carolyn, have been Pekin residents for 46 years. They are the parents of 6 daughters, 18 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
