The Pekin Marigold Festival is always held the weekend after Labor Day in the Marigold Capital of the World - Pekin, Illinois.

Sat Sept 11th at 10:00 a.m. Seating begins at Vonderheide Floor Coverings on Broadway and stretches all the way to the Court House where our panel of judges will vote on their favorite float from 100+ entrants! Don't forget your chair and grocery bag. There's candy galore!

The Pekin Marigold Festival is proud to announce Greg and Gloria Ranney as the 2021 Grand Marshals. Greg and Gloria truly represent the best of our community. In-line with this year’s theme of “Marigolds Shine On”, Greg and Gloria have been a bright spot within Pekin for a number of years with their intense commitments to community programs.

EARLY EVENTS

Can't wait for September 9th through 12th to let your marigolds shine?
Don't worry, we have events happening before the festival too!

Hosted by the Pekin Public Library and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. 

Our Marigold Garden Contest will showcase beautiful residential gardens throughout Pekin! Show your civic pride by featuring Pekin’s special flower in your garden displays. Prizes will be awarded! 

Applications are available at the Pekin Public Library and are due by July 31st, 2021. All gardens must contain marigolds.

Held at the Pekin Community High School theater beginning at 7:00 p.m. Watch five incredible young women compete for the honor of Miss Marigold.

Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased in advance at the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce at 402 Court St, or at the door on the night of the pageant. 

Put on your thinking caps! The first clue releases 10:00 a.m. on the Marigold blog and and Facebook page! Clues are released daily until the Medallion is found. 

Wondering if the Medallion has been found yet? Call 309-346-HUNT for the most up to date status on its recovery!

Shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. Registration is now available.

Art in the Park

Likely the most anticipated event of the Marigold Festival, Art in the Park returns this year with a vendor line up that is sure to keep you excited through every turn! Please note dogs are not permitted into Art in the Park. Shopping opens Saturday Sept 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and returns Sunday Sept 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Carnival

That's right! The carnival is also returning for all four days of the festival with a bracelet night kick-off. The carnival is located at the baseball fields West of the Arena.

Chalk Walk

Walk along the Mineral Springs Lagoon and see our area artists at work! This newer event has chalk drawings from all age groups and boasts a not-to-miss display of talent.

Festive Food Court

Did you know Festival Foods is actually a fundraising event? All our Festive Food workers are registered non-for-profits in the Pekin community. We're returning this event to the grassy area near the Royal Ave Shelter and will be coordinating a drive-thru option as well!

Marigold Movie Night

Hey you guys! Dan Pfeifer of State Farm is sponsoring our Family Movie Nigh hosted in Pekin Memorial Stadium. Grab your blankets and your lawn chairs and meet us for the iconic film: The Goonies! #gooniesneversaydie

Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. Per PCHS guidelines, no coolers are allowed in the Stadium.

The ultimate rivalry: Broadmoor v Edison! Watch these two schools face-off in a baseball game that is sure to keep you on your feet. Cheer on our junior high students as they take play at Diamond 2 in Mineral Springs Park beginning at 4:00 p.m. 

Sponsored by Pekin Country Club! Taste a variety of locally produced wines at your Pekin Country Club located at 310 Country Club Drive in Pekin. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and you do not need to be a member of the club to participate!

The Commerce Bank Carnival will be located at the baseball fields West of the arena. Bracelet night kicks off the carnival with rides operating from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

Join as at Pekin Memorial Stadium for our opening ceremonies! Cheer on your Dragons during the football game and stick around for the post-game fireworks display! Nothing says Pekin like a firework show! 

It didn’t move from Thursday… Still located at the baseball diamonds West of the arena! However this carnival is running well after dusk this night! Hours are 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Come get your cotton candy and lemon shakeups! 

Sponsored by Vonderheide Floor Coverings. Vendors begin sales at 9:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. There is no bulk item or large item holding area for pick-up this year.

Please do not bring animals into Art in the Park. Due to numerously voiced community concerns, the Marigold Festival no longer allows dogs or other animals within Art in the Park. ADA compliant service animals are welcome and encouraged to be identified with a vest or harness. 

This is it! The race of your dreams! A one mile dash down our parade route just before the parade begins. Imagine being cheered on by thousands of spectators as you hit that PR you’ve worked all summer at achieving.

Directly following the Marigold Mile runners is the largest parade event Pekin has to offer. With over 100 floats and community organization participants, the parade offers an insight into the creativity, talent and dedication that can be found throughout Central IL. 

The parade will begin just after 10:00 am at the intersection of 14th and Broadway. For the safety of our parade participants, please do not spectate East of 14th Street. Seating begins at Vonderheide Floor Coverings and continues all the way to the Court House! 

Want to hear special commentary and see our judges reactions to floats? Hang out close to the Court House to have an even more exciting parade experience! Oh- and don’t forget your candy bag. 

Say what? Even more time to ride rides? Count us in! The Commerce Bank Carnival will be open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Rides, funnel cakes, cotton candy and fun await you at the baseball fields West of the arena! 

Did you know all of our Festive Foods booths are community non-for-profit organizations? This event offers one of the largest fund raising opportunities of the year for many of the participants. Check out all they have to offer from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. 

Standing alongside Art in the Park, Community Spotlight showcases services and groups within the Pekin area that offer outreach initiatives, non-for-profit services and more. Check out how these business and organizations serve our communities!

Come check out the coolest place for kids in the park! With activities, freebies, fire trucks and more. 

The fun starts at 12:00 p.m. and lasts until 5:00 p.m. This is a free event for children. 

Rock Climbing. Need we say more? Upper Limits will be stationed with their mobile rock climbing wall to let Marigolders of all ages attempt their hand at scaling the wall!

Learn to fish at the Mineral Springs Park Lagoon from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  on Saturday! 

This is a free event for all ages. We’ll be teaching casting, basic techniques, tying knots and more. The Fishing Clinic is located at the main dock in front of the Pavilion. No license required. Equipment is provided.

Support your Pekin Firefighter’s Local #524 and purchase a glow lantern for our annual Lagoon Glow event. This demonstration is the stuff nostalgic memories are made of. You can purchase your lantern in advance for a minimum $10 donation. Stay tuned for locations/dates for lantern purchases! 

#HeyYouGuys It’s the Goonies! Coming to a BIG screen near you at Pekin Community High School’s football stadium. Grab your blankets or your lawn chairs and join us for the screening of The Goonies outside at Pekin Memorial Stadium! Admission is $5 per person and concessions will be available. 

Pancakes, sausage, coffee, oh my! Start off your Sunday with the best breakfast around the the Park. The Miller Center will have dine-in and curb side service of pancakes and sausage, prepared by TCRC. All proceeds benefit TCRC and the Miller Center programs. 

$5 per person. Contact Alisha Dault at 309-202-2368 for large order pick up. 

Round two of Art in the Park begins at 9:00 a.m. Swing on over after your Marigolden Breakfast and shop until 5:00 p.m. when the festival closes. Don’t forget to grab your #MarigoldMerch at the the merch tent! 

Head to the Showcase Stage and worship in the park. The Marigold Festival is proud to present representatives from area churches to provide our Sunday morning community Worship Service. This year features music from By the Book, local musicians, various voices in scripture, testimony, and a special kids’ message. This service is inclusive of all denominations of Christianity and all are welcome to attend as a way to celebrate the community.

Didn’t get your fill of homemade sugar donuts, potato bar and Italian beef sammys? Good news: Festive Foods is open all day! Check out what all 20 of our food vendors have to offer from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Drive-thru is available! There’s some good eats here!
