Marigold Mile

The Marigold Mile is a registered, one mile racing event along the Marigold Festival parade route, just before the parade begins on Saturday, September 12th. Runners can check in/register in the Vonderheide’s Floor Covering parking lot beginning at 9:00 AM. Runners will take off the 14th and Broadway starting point to kick off the parade at 10:00 AM sharp! The finish line is in the 300 block of Court St.

"Everett Dirksen's Marigold Roots"

Inside the Pavilion

Everett Dirksen’s love of the marigold earned him a worldwide reputation and provided the inspiration for the Marigold Festival. This interactive exhibit tells the story of Dirksen’s “marigold roots” through rarely seen photos, historic artifacts, and compelling memories shared by the Dirksen family and Pekin community members.

Cardboard Boat Race

Check-in at the boat dock between 1:30 – 2:30 PM. The race begins at 3:00 PM.

Lagoon Water Spectacular!

4:00 PM

Get ready for an afternoon of big tricks, big splashes, and plenty of action on the water! The show will feature a variety of water ski and jet ski performers!

Lagoon Glow

Saturday, September 12
7:30 PM

Lanterns are available for a minimum donation of $10. You may purchase your floating lantern at the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Marigold Festival Info Booth, Merch Tent, Festival Committee Members, or at the event starting at 6pm. Personalize your lantern with waterproof markers (Sharpies work best). Write a memory or wish on your lantern, or honor a loved one.

Return your lantern to the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce office by September 10th, drop it off at the information tent at the festival, or at the lagoon on the night of the Glow (Sept. 12). Launch time will begin around dusk, approximately 7:30pm. All proceeds will go to a local charity.

3 on 3 Basketball

Sign up your 3rd – 12th grader in a double elimination tournament at the Pekin Park basketball courts. Each team must have at least 2 players from PCHS or a PCHS feeder school, and must have 4 players at or below the grade level they are entering for.

Chalk Walk

Award Ceremony on the Showcase Stage at 4:00 PM

Walk along the Mineral Springs Lagoon and see our area artists at work! This newer event has chalk drawings from all age groups and boasts a not-to-miss display of talent.
